||The funded Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Research Fellowship at R Adams Cowley STC / UMMC is a one-two year mentored research training program designed for surgical residents with interest in general, plastic/ reconstructive or craniomaxillofacial surgery disciplines.
Our goal is to train full time Research Fellows who will lead clinical and translational research projects in complex adult craniofacial trauma, reconstruction of secondary craniofacial deformities, utility of 3D printing in acute facial trauma reconstruction, traumatic brain injury, abdominal wall reconstruction, wound healing, surgical education, body contouring, and large animal vascularized composite tissue allotransplantation (VCA). The research fellows will work closely with surgeons to organize and direct all research efforts within the Division. Responsibilities will include: protocol design, IRB submissions, subject recruitment and consenting for prospective studies, supervision of medical students, data collection, statistical analysis, and manuscript writing under minimal supervision.
Fellows are expected to present their work at National and International meetings.
Candidates must hold either an MD or DO degree. Two year commitment is preferred. This is a funded position.
