Job Title: Chair, Department of Plastic Surgery
Date Available: To be determined
Location: Danville, PA
Description: Danville, PA Ė Geisinger seeks a collaborative physician leader with a track record of demonstrable success to serve as their Chair of the Department Plastic Surgery. This role requires progressive leadership, effective administrative skills and a passion for incorporating cutting edge research to advance the delivery of high quality, cost-effective care at an organization that is revolutionizing how the health of its patient population is managed.

Founded in 1915 by Abigail Geisinger, widow of a local iron magnate, Geisinger began as a hospital that was intended to be a regional medical center modeled after Mayo Clinic. Today it is a physician-led system engaged in healthcare, education and research, with approximately $6.7 billion in revenues. The system has eight hospitals, employs nearly 1,600 physicians and spans 45 counties in Pennsylvania and seven counties in southern New Jersey. Geisinger also owns and operates the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine. As of December 31, 2016, the health system cared for more than 1,005,000 patients and managed over 557,000 health plan members, approximately 260,000 of whom were both members and patients, resulting in a unique managed population of approximately 1,302,000 people. The platform for population health advances is unparalleled.

The Chair oversees all plastic surgery services across all of Geisingerís geographies, promoting innovative care delivery, teaching and research. He/she will be joining the Department during an exciting period of academic development, as it is currently going through the process of establishing a new Integrated Plastic Surgery Residency at Geisinger Medical Center. The Chair will have the opportunity to make a substantial impact on one of the nationís most successful and important healthcare systems, setting the pace for the entire industry. Geisinger seeks a professional for whom that goal is a driving passion.

The ideal candidate will be a surgeon with a medical degree from an accredited school as well as board certification in Plastic Surgery. He/she will possess or be eligible for medical licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and will have leadership experience in an academic medical center or teaching hospital of notable size and complexity.
