The ACAPS Residency Coordinator Award will be given annually to one residency or fellowship coordinator who best exemplifies excellence in the support and management of the training program at his/her institution. Nominees for this award must demonstrate the following qualities:
- Creativity, expertise, and commitment to their work within the residency program
- Passion for supporting resident education (and student education, too, as applicable)
- Commitment to continuous improvement of the educational experience
- Enthusiastic attitude towards residents and the residency program
- Role modeling of professional behavior
- Effective Communication and Collaboration
- Approachability
Eligibility
- The nominee must be an Associate member of ACAPS
- The nominee must be actively involved in the ACAPS Coordinator group
- The nominee must be in the role of program coordinator (minimum 5 years)
- Recipients of the Program Coordinator Award may only receive the award once
Nomination Process
- Nominations will be solicited annually
- Nominations will be made by the Program Director, Associate Program Director or equivalent (Chair of the Department, Director of Surgical Education, etc.) Two supporting letters must accompany the nomination of which at least one must be from a resident or fellow in the program and the other from another trainee or peer.
- The nomination package should include the following:
- A nomination letter from the Program Director or equivalent and two supporting letters. The letters must include examples of how the nominee has demonstrated the qualities listed above.
- A copy of the nominee's CV
