Job Title: Adult and Pediatric Craniofacial Fellowship

Description: The Department of Plastic Surgery at Vanderbilt University Medical Center is offering a comprehensive, Adult and Pediatric Craniofacial Fellowship, outside the San Francisco match, to begin July 2020. Applicants must be committed to the VUMC mission of reflecting the diversity of the populations we serve in our teams, programs and communications. The fellowship is non-ACGME and offers the fellow extensive training in five distinct areas for a robust training in craniofacial surgery.

  1. Traditional craniofacial surgery (craniosynostosis, endoscopic and all open techniques, distraction, all le Fort's)
  2. Pre-natal to teenage cleft & orthognathic management (from primary lips to rhinoplasty)
  3. Trauma (adult and pediatric soft tissue & skeletal management)
  4. General pediatric plastic surgery
  5. Facial aesthetics

The fellow will also have the opportunity to become comfortable in microsurgical reconstruction of the head/ neck, congenital hand surgery, facial re-animation and perioperative management of the transgender and facial cosmetic patient. We offer a high-volume program with core faculty in each specific area of expertise. The fellow will have a high level of graduated-autonomy and function as an instructor for adult trauma and reconstructive cases. The fellow will be an integral part of the multidisciplinary cleft and craniofacial team and by the end of the fellowship will have the skill set to assemble and run a team of their own. Scholarly activity is welcome and to that end, a full-time research coordinator also complements the team to help the fellow engage in a project of their choosing. The fellow will also be welcome to join on any international humanitarian trip that faculty attends or they arrange independently during their year of training.
