|Description:||The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center, College of Medicine, and training site for the OU Plastic Surgery Residency, is seeking a full time academic plastic surgeon to join the faculty. The position will come with an academic appointment at the level of Assistant or Associate Professor determined by qualifications and experience. Our faculty work in clinical environments and on research activities to help improve patient care and teach the next generation of plastic surgeons.
The University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center is the only Level 1 Trauma Center in the State of Oklahoma, and an academic teaching hospital affiliated with the OU College of Medicine. The Department of Surgery has 5 divisions, including Plastic Surgery. The Department of Surgery has its own independent general surgery residency training program, as well as a pediatric surgery fellowship, and a plastic surgery fellowship. The Plastic Surgery service has a very busy referral based clinical practice covering the breadth of the specialty with four full time General Surgery Breast Surgeons referring breast reconstruction cases. The candidate is encouraged to develop centers of excellence in areas of interest.
Interested candidates must have completed an ACGME accredited Plastic Surgery residency program and must be certified, or in the process of, or eligible for certification by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Additionally, strong preference will be given to candidates who have completed a fellowship in microsurgery and are comfortable with breast, limb and general reconstruction. Experience in lymphatic surgery would be an asset. The candidate must be interested in educating both general and plastic surgery residents, and have an interest in research and administration. Excellent communication skills and interest in working in a collaborative/team oriented environment are a must.
Responsibilities will include patient care at the OU Medical Center in the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, teaching responsibilities for undergraduate and resident education program in Plastic Surgery and involvement in research. Appointment and salary commensurate with training and experience.
