Description: The Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine is seeking a reconstructive and microvascular surgeon to join its full-time academic faculty. This individual will practice in the National Capital Region at Suburban Hospital, a member of Johns Hopkins Medicine, located in Bethesda, MD/Washington DC approximately 35 miles South of Baltimore. The faculty member will have the opportunity to teach residents, engage in research, and participate in clinical program development. The Johns Hopkins Center for Transgender Health"ôs expansion into the National Capital Region will reduce healthcare disparities and improve the overall health of the community through world-class, evidence-based, affirming clinical care, interdisciplinary education, and research. Areas of focus include the complete spectrum of gender affirming surgery and general reconstructive surgery with opportunities in all other aspects of plastic surgery. Successful candidates will have appropriate training and skills in complex gender surgery procedures.

Alternately, opportunities may exist for fellowship training starting in July 2021 at the Johns Hopkins Hospital to gain the necessary training experience, followed by subsequent planned transition to faculty status.

For more than 20 years, an alliance with Johns Hopkins Suburban Hospital and the NIH has brought world-class research from the bench to the bedside, providing the local community with round-the-clock access to the most advanced diagnostic and treatment protocols. Suburban Hospital is an acute-care, medical-surgical hospital featuring all major services except obstetrics. Admissions total approximately 14,000 annually. The hospital serves as the designated regional trauma center for Montgomery County, one of nine regional trauma centers in Maryland.

Applicants must have an M.D. or M.D./Ph.D. or equivalent degree. Minimum qualifications include ABPS board certification or eligibility with a strong interest in the academic missions of our department.
