Description: The Department of Plastic Surgery at the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center is seeking a one-year research fellow (possibly renewable to two years) beginning July1, 2021.

The position is open to individuals holding a recent M.D, Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate as well as equivalent international post-doctoral degrees interested in clinical plastic surgery research. This appointment is not part of a clinical training program; individuals holding an M.D. degree or equivalent are not permitted to engage in patient care activity.

The research fellow will be responsible for clinical research in reconstructive plastic surgery. Clinical projects will be related to cancer reconstruction which include breast, abdominal, pelvic, extremity, head and neck reconstruction in addition to lymphedema. There is an active patient database and a full-time statistician available to facilitate research activities. It is anticipated that the research fellow will complete at least 10 research manuscripts during the one-year fellowship in addition to opportunities for presentations, book chapters and other publications. Faculty members other than Dr. Butler will assist and guide the research fellow in order to achieve goals and objectives. The fellow will be invited to participate in departmental conferences and other educational activities.
